These are instructions on how to upgrade your 1.x installation of GetSimple to the new 2.0 release.

  1. Take a backup of your site. You can navigate to Backups » Website Archives » Create New Archive Now.
  2. (Optional) To be extra safe, you can log into your site via FTP and copy all the files and folders for your GetSimple site. This includes the /admin/, /data/, /theme/, /backups/ folders and the .htaccess and index.php files.
  3. Log into your site via FTP if you haven't done so yet and delete the whole /admin/ folder.
  4. Upload the new 2.0 /admin/ folder and index.php file that you got with your new 2.0 download.
  5. When this new folder is finished uploading, log back into your site and verify everything looks OK.
  6. IMPORTANT: It is also imperative that you go to Support -> Health Check to make sure that you've uploaded all necessary .htaccess files. Some folders in your installation have sensitive data and should not be accessible to outside visitors.
