You do not tell us which OP you use, I do it like this with WIN7 or WIN XP:
I use a file explorer/filemanager (DIROpus) in Windows, which allows to integrate directories on a server / FTP in a window.
So I can see the differences in 2 windows:
window 1 shows the content on my local harddisk
window 2 shows the content in the server directory
This filemanager allows to snychronize as well.
