Hi!

I installed GetSimple in a subdirectory (Simple) under the local user "Sites" directory on my iMac OS X (Mavericks) following the instructions on this site. It seems the install process could not copy the .htaccess and gsconfig.php files to that subdirectory so I followed the instructions displayed and manually copied the files.

With .htaccess installed and RewriteBase modified to "/~username/Simple/" (w.o. the quotes), I could not access the url (localhost/~username/Simple) and received the following error -

Forbidden.
You don't have permission to access /~sng/Simple/ on this server.

I removed the .htaccess file and was able to access that url and not need to use the generated password to access it. I could in fact change my password and was successful in logging in to Simple/admin.

On another problem (without .htaccess) I followed the "10 minute" tutorial in the wiki. All seemed OK until I tried to create another page. The creation went OK, however when I tried to access the page I received -

Not Found
The requested URL /~sng/Simple/our-location/ was not found on this server.

Any help will be appreciated to resolve this. Thanks in advance.

Stephen
Where is /~sng/ coming from?
Not sure I understand, you wrote 2 seperate paths in your post.

Do you have your siteurl setup properly in settings ?
Sorry! It's my user id. Just substitute it for username.

I believe it is http://localhost/~username/Simple/

Could it be that you do not have permissions, httpd probably runs as its own user.

Thanks. I checked and the user and group for pages, users, zip under the backups directory were all _wwwConfusedtaff. If I were to change these to my user id and group would it cause any problems. What is the alternative?

I installed GetSimple under /Library/WebServer/Documents and perform exactly the same commands and did not find any problems. The user and group for the directories in question were _wwwConfusedtaff, but this was alright running under the root directory.
No clue I have never used that environment.
