How to display featured blog posts on home page

Hello all,

I am trying to display featured blogs on my home page. I have tried using a bunch of plugins such I18N Search and I18N Special Pages. The problem is that I want to display one post at a time and format while it is rendering. Something like the Loop from Wordpress.

Any suggestions on how this can be accomplished ?
