Components/Plugins Dropdown In CKEDITOR

I would love to see an additional dropdown option in ckeditor for 'Components/Plugins'.
By this I mean, a select menu to insert a component/plugin onto a page. Maybe there could be a custom plugin in CKEDITOR which reads the components file and crawls through the plugins folder?

This would be an awesome feature to have for the users and also to further set getsimple apart from a lot of the competition.

I have been trying to do this on and off (for hours at a time) for the past week, but to no avail.
It is possible, right?

I know an implementation which works in CMSMadeSimple with FCKEditor
I zipped that for you so you can check the structure

the plugin sits in FCKeditor\editor\plugins

maybe this gives an inspiration and maybe it works similar with CKEditor
