htaccess 301 redirects from old pages
#1
Hi,
just need a helping hand.
I have moved a website from static html over to GS and would like to redirect incoming old pages to the new pages via an .htaccess file. The problem is that GS with fancy urls on just rewrites the old url rather than taking you to the new page.

eg. I had an old page called links.php on the same url ( www.myurl.com for example ) and want to redirect any incoming links.php request to my new page, which would be www.myurl.com/links.

Problem is when I add the 301 redirect into the htaccess file, it just generates a new url and changes links.php to links?id=php instead of redirecting :-(

Any ideas anyone??

Thanks

Take a look at this thread, there are several redirection examples for GS that may work for you:
