Help with reinstall
#1
I would like to reinstall GS from the start.
A totally clean install. But without loosing any pages.
I have 135 pages that I do not wish to loose. + pics.

Is there a way to reinstall GS without loosing everything?

A little back info that suggest a total reinstall may be the best idea.
I moved hosting a month or so ago.

Since the GS has been... not good.

I have problems loading images.
Have problems editing anything.

Also
Sometime ago I took down the forums I had on the site. And removed all the files. Or so I thought.

After moving the site as per...

You can grab all created content from within admin panel.
Just go to backups -> website archive -> create new archive, and download it.
You will have your theme, pages, uploads, and config files backuped.
Just make a fresh GS installation on new hosting account, and upload all backuped files.

Nothing more simple Wink

MUST REMEMBER. Cannot use quotation marks!!!!!!!!!

I definitely wish to miss out on the config files. Since things are so bad at the moment.
Also. That is where the one of the problems lies. The config is screwed from the recent move.

Also I do not wish to use a backup. That is where the issue of the ghost forums has come from.
The forums have been removed. There are NO files for the forums. But the hits from spammers is showing up in the stats.
The comment spamming had stopped before the move. Now it is back to 50 - 60 hits a day.

All I wish to save is the pages and the files.
Nothing else.

I have tried something like this before. Saving the pages and files. Removing and reinstalling GS and then trying to get the pages back in. But that method does not seem to work.
The pages tend not to be accepted if they are just FTPd into the data folder.
And I do not have the time or energy to rewrite 135 pages. (interlinked)

Would you mind sending me backup of your site created in the way I've described it above ?
It's impossible for me to come up with any useful solution, when there's no useful information to base on.

Thank you but....

I was hoping for a solution.
Hoping that someone would say XYZ.

Apparently not.

yojoe thank you for the offer but, I do not wish to be sending backups for a 140 page website across the net (to a stranger)
Please do not be insulted . Your offer is appreciated.

Hey, that's no problem as it goes for me Wink
I respect somebody's privacy the same as my own.

I posted a simplest solution which was working for me.
Since I have no idea what is your webserver/hosting account config, data structure, nor changes made with GS, I can't come up with any additional ways of moving pages without some programming.

If you have time and knowledge, you can program a script which will grab content of .xml pages create new files on new location, and paste copied content into them.

No.
If I could I would not be asking.

I have 99% of the site in html/css now. Am looking at changing back over.

It is possible that I could try take a bunch of files out of the backup and try a reinstall that way.
But. Once I get that far I may as well move back to html.
