Migration from Local to Remote Server
#1
Could you walk us through a migration from Local development platform to Remote server? I can see a couple of scenario's here; 1) new install on remote server and 2) updating a remote server. Which files need to move and what files should not? Thanks.

You should be able to pick up the entire directory structure from local and place it on your remote server. Of course you would also need to copy the root's index.php and .htaccess files too.

Alternatively, you could copy over a fresh install and then just move over the whole data and theme folders to the remote location.

There is no file that GS has or creates that is dependant on the server it was created on except for maybe the /data/other/authorization.xml - and that is just a random generated string that will be used to protect certain processes as a 'salt' in the future. To be safe, delete that file on the remote server once you are done copying over the files and GS will just regenerate it.
