Hello everyone,

If anyone has any popular *Free* themes they would like ported into GetSimple, please post them here.
The themes will be added to extend, so no 'personal use only' requests.

I would prefer themes that are free or allowed to be re-produced. I would rather not port over premium themes without permission from their creators.

I will personally be working on these themes as time allows, however it would be great if other theme developers referenced this list as well!

Ouch, in the future, try using the back button to go back to before you tried to submit. That usually does the trick for me.

What is the standard for creating themes?
It is ok to include custom plugins/pages with the theme download?

My first theme (Simplicity) from your suggestions has been uploaded to extend.

If anyone has any further suggestions, please let me know. Hopefully this thread can be of use for other theme developers as well.

I converted one of their templates for this site, http://www.weddingmusicensembles.com/ and i like their design & coding...really simple, fast and well designed templates...

It's a really nice template. You can build that site in GetSimple and GetSimple would serve as a really good platform for the site but the GS templating system is just not up to the task of handling a template of anything like that complexity.

With a copy of GS and a template the only readily editable elements you get are
Site Name
Tagline
Page Content
Sidebar (and even that requires html input)
so the third column, the blog entries, the search box, the image gallery, the link lists etc either have to be fixed, non-editable elements, coded into the template, or built up with Components, sub pages and plugins which can't then be included in a template.

So it's totally do-able but it isn't 'Simple' and it isn't going to be a Theme. it can be done as a site but it needs someone who knows their way around the plugins and the obscure GS tricks and shortcuts.

Personally I think it is going to become more and more of an issue for GS in the future.

I have my test site set up using Green theme, which is similar to Unbound header-wise, and is really what I'm after. That and the lines dropping below the grey header. Don't like Unbound's dark footer. So one column is fine, don't really need the sidebar, but would like search and drop-down (sub-category) navigation. I could probably figure it out, but have been out of coding a few years so am rusty. Thanks.

update... I switched to Timbow's Holford theme, it will work well for me if I can add the dropdown nav and maybe search.
