What news post manager and blog plugin are people using ?

I see that there are a few available, but which ones are actively maintained, bug free, and feature rich ?

I thought I would inquire a bit as i am about I implement them and check them all out.

I would love to port this blog system over as a plugin. I have a basic understanding of php and would love to learn php through a hands on approach actually using it rather than running through a bunch of tutorials.
Nibbleblog uses xml, like get-simple. Also it supports categories and tags in addition to being multilingual pa' los hispanohablantes como yo. :o
