Cannot install
#1
Hello guys
I've faced the strange issue which seems to be related with server's configuration. Upon my installation attempt I get the following notice:
Code:
Notice: Undefined index: lang in /home/***/admin/setup.php on line 13
There's a blank screen with the notice and nothing more.
All necessary server's extensions were turned on (or as it seems to me).
Who can guide me please?
Cheers and thanks.

reff,

it is not good that you have that problem.
But without any further information we cannot find solutions for you

what did the server check say when you installed?
which version did you install
which server operation system
which php version
white screen in frontend or backend?
URL of the server
please be more concise and give us the necessary hint

Did you read the forum threads? There are some which run into installation problems, so you might find the solution by reading these posts

or by answering the questions above

There was no server check (the result cannot be seen), cause when I launch /admin/install.php I get that damn notice and nothing else. So it's rather back-end...
I tried to install the latest stable version 3.0
It's a FreeBSD Server with PHP5.2.10, you may see phpinfo for details.
Possibly the trouble is caused by the highly customizable server itself. The hosting (nic.ru) provides too much options that I'm still trying to deal with.
PS: I have several projects powered by GS and it's the very first time when I got stuck diring the installation. Very strange.

Reff, privet"!

thank you for the info, please take off the phpinfo from the server, it is a high security risk
you might save it as text

if the error message happens before the installation starts, (because you get the results of server check when installing), I am sure it is a server configuration causing this

I hope other forum members can help you, (I am not so talented in that), did you ask nic.ru's support?

good luck,

Connie

Did you try looking at your php.ini (if you have access, some hosts don't let you edit this server file) and try messing around with the php error reporting settings?

Code:
error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE

Something like this would disable notices.

Todo arde si le aplicas la chispa adecuada.

Not solved yet. Unfortunately =(
Definitely it's caused by server's configuration. Technical support didn't help.
It's enough waisted time for me. Looking for another hosting.

Heh))) It finally got working. Unexpected default misconfiguration caused the errors. Now everything's OK.
Thanks everybody

I am glad that it is worked out and you can start the real thing: using GetSimple, working with GetSimple, creating a site with GetSimple!

Thanks Connie =)
Honestly it's a little late with the point #2 and #3
But the point #1 is currently actual cause the site is already working 8D
Cheers!

We have a special article in the WIKI: Installation => Specific Hosters:

it would be great if you could add this experience with nic.ru with some details

Thanks in advance,

I'll borrow this thread since at least the Thread name relates to my question.

After copying all files to a subfolder on my One.com account I run the file Install.php and I recieve a window where all lines are ok'd with green text.

When then continuing with the Setup I'm stuck with a question because the only field clear to me is the e-mail field. What am I supposed to enter in the first two fields.

Maybe this is the reason why I'm ending upp with the Server 500 message.

I also get an e-mail to the adress given with a password to be used together with the username. But when and where am I supposed to use them?

Greetings from a new (hopeful) user in Sweden

/Rickard
