Stupid newbie mistake: transferred whole site with localhost url
#1
I just spent the entire weekend building this site. So now when I moved everything to my sites root directory, all the links on the menu and submenu's are linking to localhost. How do I change the links from localhost to my sites url without starting from scratch?

Set the Website Base URL in the Settings in the GS administration. This should take care of all navigation links.

If you have links included in your page content, you have to manually edit the pages or do a mass replace on the pages' XML files.
I18N, I18N Search, I18N Gallery, I18N Special Pages - essential plugins for multi-language sites.

wellcome here!

I am sure, you did not do a forum search or read our wiki ;=)
This is a wellknown situation, all the links are always absolute links so when you develop locally, the links are local

You did not do a mistake, you just don't know some things. But that is not tragic.

Read our WIKI:

1) http://get-simple.info/wiki/installation:local_server and there the chapter:
http://get-simple.info/wiki/installation..._live_site

2) http://get-simple.info/wiki/installation:migrating

so you will be able to have your site working on the server as well

Cheers, Connie

@Connie thanks!
I'll be honest, I just started using GSCMS for only a week now. And I'm kind of rushing to get this integrated with php/html site I made for a friends charity organization. I've been promising them that I'd have this site complete over 2 months ago but they keep asking me to make certain changes which I don't have the time to, so I need a CMS where they can do it themselves. I've been cramming to learn GSCMS for the past week mostly by trial and error, the only way I'm quick at learning. But I will read the wiki once I've gotten everything working. Just right now is a bit of a mad rush.
