A simple contact manager
#1
Why is it that everywhere I look (hours and hours) I find these over complicated and bloated contact managers. The closest to usability is Highrise, but I'm not willing to spend the money on something that should be relatively easy to create.

So, with that said, I am in the middle of creating a very BASIC contacts management software written in PHP/MySQL. I'm hoping to be done with it tomorrow, but that really depends on any client calls I receive.

Really, all I've been needing is:
- A list of potential and current clients and their info
- A note area for what they need or talked about
- A tags list that can "label" a specific contact is a different status (potential, in development, completed, maintenance, etc)
- A task manager that I add notes of things that need to be done.

How simple is that?
Clients always want to be able to change the content of their pages, but they are unwilling to do so.

That sounds like an app I need now. Being able to export/import to hcard or vcf would help too.

Chris, I'll share it with you when it's ready for "beta" Wink

I get about 4 calls a week for design work and it's overwhelming dealing with index cards and sheets of paper everywhere.

And Alexey... shame on you Big Grin

^ Out of all those, I like SimpleCustomer the most.

I'm actually coding the exact same things that SC has, except mine includes todo's.
I will eventually get to adding billing support, but I'm not near there yet.
I'm about 70% done. *Rough time with a mysql_fetch_array (was returning one less record than supposed to)

Looks like your going all AJAX.

I'm just keeping mine basic for now. As I'm not sure what I'm going to do after I'm done with the code.

I found a bug when inputting a note.
"Adding Notes - Error"

Note contains invalid characters!

My Characters were "Another Note " copied about 100 times.

Here are some previews of what I'm working on.
I know the look is similar to my site, but I'm first off making this for me... so....
Besides, it's nearly all css based id and class controlled.

Ok, so I'm taking this thing to the next level. This sucker is gonna be nearly perfect for every sole proprietor out there.
That means it gonna take me much longer to finish, BUT when it's done, I will rid my $5/mo ClientExec license Smile

I seriously don't know, It uses my main sites framework as the base.. Plus it works great as a site that you don't have to host. Your information is secure as I'm never going to sell it to anyone or look at it myself unless you say that there is an error on something specific to something so I don't think so. If it wasn't built on my main sites base I would though.

Could not recreate error internet54:

Thanks

^ It is usable but not close to complete.

I currently have about 50 contacts in mine and it works just fine for adding notes to everyone.
Email me from my website and I'll see what we can do.
