Independent Menu Plugin
#1
As far as I can tell, the only way to create editable(end user) independent menus is to make use of http://get-simple.info/extend/plugin/i18n/69/ plugin and using the technique described here http://mvlcek.bplaced.net/multi-level-na...-multiple/

Whilst this does work, it's not ideal for a couple of reasons. 1. It's a little confusing for the end using that there are "Dummy pages" that are not actually for them to edit but to structure the site. 2. If you use fancy URLs, which for seo purposes I guess you would, it will add an additional sub cat in the url, which isn't ideal. 3.

What would be ideal would be to have a menu plugin that you can then just create as menu menus as you like and refer to them in your template using the slug url. WordPress is probably the best example of this with a nice drag and drop interface and the ability to just create a new menu set and add pages to it.

I'm a very new user of GS, so there might also be other ways of achieving these independent menus and if this is the case, I'd be very interested to hear about them. The only other way I can think of achieving this is by creating static links in my template.

Obviously open to others thoughts and suggestions, let me know what you think.

My first script for GS did something like that: Simple Tree Multi-level Menu
It's somewhat rudimentary, I might update it someday...
