Wikipedia Article on GetSimple
#1
Does anyone have a registered account? I am not *supposed* to create a page about a company/product of mine, so I am asking for help from the community here. I would be happy with anything, including just copying and pasting most content off our site. Thanks in advance!

The above link was generated because I added us here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_con..._Flat_file

I've started to write the article but it is really difficult to make it encyclopedic and not promotional Smile

I think first you need to have a complete article to add GS into any lists...So, dear users - any help is appreciated Smile

^ That's why Wikipedia isn't a reliable source for information.
Clients always want to be able to change the content of their pages, but they are unwilling to do so.

Have you ever coded in your underwear before?

Three years later:
I think GS really deserves it's own article by now.
Who wants to contribute some text? I'll administer the discussion on WP.

I think the article on CMSimple might be a good template to start with. We must also avoid advertising language.

Word.

I started a collection of public mentions in press and literature. Anyone who can contribute, please add sources directly to this Wikipedia draft:

Hi there, update: I managed to get the content of the old article (deleted in 2010) imported to my userpsace on WP: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jesus_..._from_2010

So, we have enough data, let's start to write an article. I asked Chris Cagle to write an introduction, but all in all we have more independent sources and information to put in there. From my POV: I am 99% sure that the next article stays in Wikipedia.

Can someone help to improve the article by removing these issues?:
Quote:This article appears to be written like an advertisement. (September 2012)

The people at Wikipedia are a f***ing joke. That doesn't read like an ad and it's got enough sources (in my opinion).

I've fixed typos multiple times on random Wikipedia articles, every time they roll them back. Really? Really?

I'll write a review of GetSimple on one of my websites, then we'll have a link Wink

Anyway, it's looking great!

I agree with Wikipedia. Don't you see it yourself?

For example, this is totally unneeded info:

"The system has been downloaded more than 110,000 times and is actively used by almost 1700 websites. The biggest market share today can be found in the Czech Republic. According to W3 Tech's statistics, GetSimple is used on less than 0,1% of all websites - however, the total number of installations has tripled within one year (Oct 2011 - Aug 2012).[5][7][8]"

No, it's not un needed info.

If I were going to use a CMS I would use one that has a decent amount of downloads - in this case, the information would be helpful.

If somebody's looking at a Wikipedia article, then they probably want to use it. In which case they will download it from the website, which will also contain the info.

I shortened this passage. Then I removed the "Ad" box, bc IMHO the article is not written ad-styled - I collected shortcomings and criticism when writing the first version. However, adding more external sources would be helpful.

1700 seems low. I have over 200 client websites using getsimple. Although none of those have the anonymous data plugin.

I think information like demographics and metrics do not belong either. They change by nature and are irrelevant.
