php 5.3
#1
This may be a dumb question, but I can not find an answer anywhere in the forum. Found several mentions about PHP 5.3 but nothing that said Get Simple is compatible with it.

So that is my question is Get Simple Compatible with PHP 5.3

Thanks for all help.

Typically you only have to worry about backwards compatability with php not future.
Unless they deprecated some functions we use it should be fine.

I do not know if anyone has tested it yet though.
Probably something we should QA

Thanks for the reply Shawn.

I am planning on using a shopping cart that uses PHP 5.3 but they do have an option for 5.2.

My host uses 5.2 by default but I can update it to 5.3 but I didn't want to run into problems with Get Simple or any of the Plug-ins

Thanks again for the fast reply Shawn.

Unless you have a specific reason to use 5.3, 5.2 is probably much more stable ( with regards to gs ), 5.3 is more strict and might throw some errors and you might have issues with some plugins.

But again I havent actually tested it.

AFAIR since version 2.03 GS works ok with php 5.3

Some recent plugins may have issues with php 5.2 (because of magic quotes being enabled)

IMHO better php 5.3
