Retrieve Password
#1
I forgot my password so I clicked forgot password. It is asking me to enter my username so I did and it gives me an error. Are you not able to retrieve your password or is there something I am not doing in the code?

I am having the same problem - after changing the password - it fails to recognise my username and says:

"Error: There was a problem sending the email. Please try again."

there are 2 questions to you:

1) both of you do not tell which version of GS you use

2) did you get the welcome mail when you installed GS? This is the first test whether the mail sending is working

3)
switch on DEBUG in gsconfig.php
try again

maybe you will get some more detailled information about the problem, if so tell us please

Hi Connie,
I'm new to GetSimple, so I may be doing things completely wrongly. But to answer your questions:

The first time I installed GS, I did it with the Dreamhost auto-install. Everything worked OK and I got the email and went in noticed that it said that I needed version 3.1.2 - I think that was it. And the version I had was 3.1

I looked at the upgrade instructions, but couldn't work out what needed to be kept and what should be saved.

I downloaded the version I had installed on the server and ran the Changes app to compare the differences between the two versions.

There were a lot of changes, so I decided to just strip everything off the server and start again.

I did not receive the email this time.

After reading something else on this forum, I changed line 26 (except it was line 28 on my file) in one of the files. I will dig around in the forum to find the thread that refers to it - but it didn't work.

Since then, I have stripped everything off the server again and have an empty folder.

Sorry about that - I am using the 3.1.2 and no when I registered and installed at the beginning I did not get the welcome email.

Of your password is salted and you do not have both the se salt on your config file that matches the same user file the your password will never work.

See my workaround in another thread.

You can also grab your password from your file
and go here

https://crackstation.net/

and try to crack it
NOTE: if it works, then never use that password again it sucks.
