How-To report an issue or problem
#1
DRAFT COPY
Do we have this in wiki already ?

Things to do before reporting a problem or issue.

Check another browser and see if you get the same result.
Clear your browser cache.
Clear GS cache ( if available , settings page->flush cache )
Try to narrow down issue to any new changes, such as creation of a new page, component, or adding or upgrading a plugin.
Check the health check page for errors.
Enable debug mode, check for errors. For 404, 500 errors try checking error.log and your hosts error logs. There may contain the error cause or a security filter running.

To report a problem, gather as much information as you can to help us help you.

Collect some details.

Post any relevant info from health check such as GS version and php version, along with any errors you see.

Post info about your system, non apache, hosted, local, lamp, wamp?

Post the steps you were attempting to perform.
What was expected ?
What was actual result ?

Add a screenshot clearly detailing the issue and/or expected result.

Add additional info for how-tos for debug mode, error log, health check.

Maybe it's possible to add a link to such a wiki page in the New Thread -window. Or maybe to ad a certain form to fill in certain info when posting. Or the way code.google.com is handling issues by filling in questions-text in the textform.

Nah that's overly complicated , the idea is to keep this open discussion, but we need some guidelines and help docs.
