Instaal problem
#1
I have used GS on Local host and on an actual server.
Not had this problem before.

Load GS to the server.

Type in URL

Get default page from host "THE DOMAIN NAME IS REGISTERED"

?? Maybe I am having one of those days. But, cannot see anything wrong.

MySQL 5.1.41
Hosting service
# the possibility to choose an operating system: WINDOWS 2003 or LINUX
# the possibility to use ASP.NET 3.5, ASP, PHP 5
# the Access or PostgreSQL or MySQL database of 100 MB space free of cost
# unlimited FTP access

Files are showing 755

I did sign up for Linux hosting. But, don't expect that this should be the problem.

Any help appreciated.

Linux hosting is actually recommended as we’re not working with ASP here. You’ll find most of us are hosted on Linux boxes.

Maybe there is an index.html file left on your domain? By default index.html has a higher priority than index.php (if I remember correctly). Please check that only GetSimple’s index.php is there, and not other index files.

Also, they say PHP 5 is a possibility, are you sure you do have PHP enabled on your hosting?

Those are the only 2 things I can think of.

Index.php is there.
There is no index.html.

So it must be
# the possibility to use ASP.NET 3.5, ASP, PHP 5

They have the possibility of PHP??

So I expect I will have to write to them and try get it "switched on".

I’m not sure, but you would probably want to contact them nevertheless. If you upload files and those are not accessible from your domain something has to be wrong on their side.

Thank you for the confirmation.
It has been a LOT easier with GS in the past.

Like it says on the box...

3 minutes to install. And that was the first time.

Now?????

Create a file with this in it and run it on your domain.
It will let you know everything about the PHP config that is running.

<?php phpinfo(); ?>
Clients always want to be able to change the content of their pages, but they are unwilling to do so.

Tracked the "problem" down.

Client fingers!

The registered domain is .com The person has registered a .cz with the hosting company.

The passwords etc sent by the hosting company contained no domain name. So I am uploading to .cz and trying to look at a .com home page.
Will contact hosting company.

I have not had any issues with GS. And could not see this. My bad.
Thank you people.

This just got more interesting.

Contacted the hosting company.
Asked the to point the domain in the right direction.
(from .cz to .com)
Then an old site shows up.
But any changes made by FTP have no effect.

Weird.

If the old site is showing up than the domain is pointing to the server with the old site instead of your newer hosting package. I’d be complaining until they get you domain (or both?) pointed to one server to which you have FTP access.

^ I agree.

But until they do, login to the FTP server by IP address.

When trying to upload Backp and data files
there is the following error.

Response: 550 Cannot STOR. The filename is banned.
Error: Critical error

Time to contact the hosting company again.

You are having an absolutely ridiculous time.
I would abandon ship and start fresh... Your host is providing to have issues.

I will keep that in mind in the future.

I mostly do sites for friends. this is not any kind of huge money for me. More of a hobby. When I have the time.

As for the rest.

The situation is still the same. The hosting company is telling me now that I do not have .htaccess on the .cz hosting.
OK. But I ordered PHP hosting.
The hosting company has redirected (?? DNS) the.cz domain to .com given me the new password etc. But now they have reduced the hosting to a minimum package so that there is no PHP.
Only html.

And they cannot seem to understand that the domain name owner wants .com NOT.cz and wants PHP hosting.

Quote:Good morning

Now just register domain sanpedra.cz. You will have a Normal Lite hosting.

Web domain to sanpedra.com will be run?

Have you ever read any Kafka?

Anyway. Message to the mods.
Maybe this thread could be moved to Off Topic.

It has now descended into farce with the hosting company and is nothing to do with installing GS.

Thank you guys for your help and shared wisdom.

I am just happy right now that I am not (completely) insane.
internet54 Like I say I will keep it in mind.
