Are multiple installs good friends?
#1
G'Day for you,

Idea/Need:

A different theme/look/install per section of the website

+---- Services : this theme here with these plugins. 1st instance of GS
+
+
+---- Portfolio : another theme with a gallery plugin. 2nd instance of GS
+
+
+---- aso aso... n'th instance of GS. No links between the instances btw.

What's the best solution to achieve that?

How to allow pass-through fancy urls to the 'inner' sections of the site/instances of GS??

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge and for your precious time

Best Regards,
Emmanuel

P.S.
After 2 or 3 hours peeking & poking around, THANKS! as
i'm starting to REALLY enjoy GS!!

1 per theme/subject. Different audience & language.

Seems simpler to me. Easier to manage.
Less pages per section/subject.

Can have different plugins per section.

menu system? menu hard-coded in the front-end/landing page
targeting each different instance of GS

Yeah it is possible, you might have to do some fancy rewrites to handle fancy urls.
But you should be able to just have gs subdirectories and modify each rewrite root ( if using fancy urls )

But each page can have its own template in options, and with the i18n plugin you can have multiple languages.

Either way should work, i would think 1 instance would be easier to manage though.

You can use page templates to get a different look.

You can have one theme per site, but you can use multiple template files. I can understand how that may sound confusing. On every page you can specify a different template file:

You can put the plugin code in the template file, or in the page.

You can use this plugin as an alternative to the main menu:
