Can't edit theme

Hi, I've only just installed GS and am having a look around it all. When I try to 'edit theme' when I try to 'save changes' I get a message saying 'can't open file'. Please help me! Many thanks,

Hello banter,
surely is a permissions issue. Make sure the folder THeme has permissions to Other of write.

Thanks Cumbe, I've put the permissions to 777 now for the themes folder and contents and it works. I don't really understand permissions, can I leave it like this or should I change it back to what it was when I'm done editing?
