How much to Price?
#1
I really like the GetSimple CMS for Small Businesses to set up their web sites. I am currently looking into using GEtSimple for the same and also the pricing options to make it affordable for them? What do you think a developer should charge for setting up a web site using this CMS for small business clients ? LiIke whare should it start at the pricing level and maximum of what dependinig upon the number of pages etc..

Thanks ia advance for your input!

As they say, "Charge what the market will bear" (or at least what you're worth) - but make sure you add something extra to cover a donation to the GetSimple project Smile

Content Management Systems get priced differently to standard websites. Mainly because of the dynamic nature of the website. Where they can add their own pages.

Depends on your location, where i live CMS's start at $1,000 not including the cost of design, chop up (conversion to html and css) and image purchases.

You can drop the price somewhat based on not having spent time on the development.

I do agree with including a donation to the system.

so is it bad or good that you spend less developing with GS than any other CMSs? You will HAVE to charge less now!! Smile

Well i meant the time to develop a CMS system moreso then the time of development using it.

Business wise i can't help but think 'ohh less development, more profit' lol

As said earlier, it's whatever the market will bear. We generally charge less for sites powered by GS simply because there aren't a lot of extra things that are needed for the site, such as plugins or modules to be configured or ecommerce and other things that tend to drive web development prices up. And I don't think that there's a huge learning curve with GS like there is with other CMSs so factor that into your business model.

And I always give generously to open source apps such as this one from which I make my living. It's only fair and it encourages further development of an already great product. Smile
