The first is a failure most likely because you don't have 'url_fopen' enabled in your php environment. The request sends the plugin name and version to my server to show what's new when an update is released. I had to do this with my server because extend doesn't provide this information via its api.
The second is a known issue with the rss that I haven't been able to solve yet. Adding the ';' causes a large number of php errors to show.
