RIP IE: Microsoft is finally killing off Internet Explorer
#1
This is news indeed! According to this report:
https://www.yahoo.com/tech/s/rip-ie-micr...31718.html
Quote:People’s interest was instantly piqued when it was discovered that Microsoft was working on a new browser codenamed “Project Spartan” for inclusion in Windows 10. While details were scarce at the time, the mere idea that they would have a new Internet Explorer alternative was enough for many people.

Then, excitement grew as new Project Spartan details were revealed. There’s even a leaked video that shows Project Spartan in action.

Now, it looks like Microsoft has even more faith in its next-gen browser than we thought — the company has confirmed plans to dump Internet Explorer in favor of Spartan.

Well, I read this yesterday and thought: Finally! Time to pop bottles!
But after I calm down, I realized they probably only change the name.
As long as they don't care about web standards or still use their Trident render engine there won't be an improvement.
But who knows, maybe I'm wrong. Let's wait and see. Sleepy

I thought that Microsoft is more comitted to standards anyway nowadays and that most browser incompatibilities are with older versions (pre IE11).

Unless it's been resolved, I recall that DigitalTrends reported there was a critical security bug in IE11 that could only be resolved by not using it Blush Could be wrong though.

Maybe you're right. It took only something about 20 years to get there. Big Grin
