PROBLEM MSE detects themes having Virus ?
#1
Hi,

I was downloading some Get simple themes to get a feel of the CMS. Some of the better looking/feature rich themes that I downloaded got removed from my system as a virus was detected. ( Attachment )
The themes that got flagged were being downloaded from http://get-simple.info/extend/theme/

My anti virus is Microsoft Security Essentials. The virus definitions are up to date.

I am really looking forward to try GetSimple CMS. Can someone please advice me the reason for this virus issue, and how I can get to use these themes and if it is safe to do so.

Hi Shawn

Some js files are being detected as having - Threat Name:Trojan:Win32/Spursint.A!cl

I am attaching some sections of the log.

MSE is horrible. I would not trust it to either detect malware, or get it right when it thinks it's found some.

It scores dead last in the latest tests:
https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/

And it's an chronic issue:

Use something better like Avira.

I recommand to test theses files on Virus Total (https://www.virustotal.com/en) : this online free service scan the file with 56 up-to-date anti virus and give you the result for each AV.
