Extend Issues

As you probably noticed extend is up with limited functionality Due to the upgrade of forums,

The forum system is our authentication system. It maintains all the users so the site has a single sign on. The migration caused us to have to accept some change with it. One of those being that forum userids have changed.

Unfortunately extend used the IDs extensively for authentication, file storage and ratings.

I have made progress on updating extend to the new forum users. Aside from about 20 missing users which we will have to assign a new arbitrary account to.

One of the only issues left is that file storage is based on userid named folder hierarchy. So my plugins are here for example.

...extend/export/7313/347/sa-tags.zip
7313 being my old forum id.

To get this fixed asap we want to rename all folders to new IDs, its the easiest and permanent solution.

my new files would be here
...extend/export/1878/347/sa-tags.zip

Now anyone that linked to these files will wind up with broken links, I would assume most people link to their extend page, which will continue to work.

So i am looking for input on this change, any further insight anyone has is welcome.

We believe this is the last hurdle to getting extend back up with admin capability. There is still a small authentication issue to address but that should be it.

I agree that most people link to the extend page not the file it's self. I think renaming would solve the problem and would be the fastest and most permenant fix.

I say we just get it done. I think users would rather have a fully functioning extend with some broken links then half an extend but good links.

I agree I don't think anybody hotlinks to the downloads.

Sounds good, a few of us hotlink from out own sites but that not a huge job....

Will start testing authentication and ratings.

I have solved the auth issues, now its just finishing integrating it. I am off to bed.

Some links to support forums are not redirected properly. Example: News Manager

Redirects to: http://get-simple.info/forums/showthread.php?tid=411 ("News manager")
instead of: http://get-simple.info/forums/showthread.php?tid=1056 ("News Manager")

I suppose you did the redirect based on titles, not by linking old<->new topic id's. These 2 seem the same, but oldest (wrong) one has the M in caps :-)

I'll check other popular plugins, etc...

Extend should be fully functional now.

You may have to clear your site cookie, if you are having issues.

Also if you get a warning about contact site admin, please post it here.

Log out and log in again. And if this does not help, clear all cookies and log in again.

Yeah you may have to clear cookies. We changed them to sitewide to get that working.

Had to quit out of safari (As opposed to close) as well as clear cookies, for some reason. But working now. Brilliant.
