I have just set up a new site with version 3.3.0. Uploaded the two Google Analytics plugins (universal and other) into the Plugins Folders but the Plugins Tab on admin does not display the plugins nor allow me to enter the code.

OK, I uploaded the entire folder, when I uploaded the components within the folder it worked. Cheers,

Oh ok, so it was just a file issue or upload problem?

File issue - I did nor realise that I had to open the folder and upload the contents.

plugins are zip files you have to extract them
They should have a php file and a folder containing any dependancies.
sometimes if you get them not from extend or from a svn they will have a folder inside them
