QUESTION sitemap.xml

For my blog https://www.svenscheuermeier.ch I use the News Manager plugin for my posts. Everything works great but I have a question considering the sitemap.xml.

My post automatically have a <priority>0.5</priority>. I have no experience how Google treats the <priority> attribute but still im a little concerned. My "Homepage" and the "Blog overview" have 1.0 Priority but to be honest, I wish it would be the other way around so that my posts have 1.0 priority ... i already tried to change it manually (by downloading the sitemap from the server) but every time I post something new its back to default.

I'm thankful for any information about <priority> and tipps how to solve this problem.

Also, I'm using "autometad 1" to generate a Meta Description for my posts ... this is ok, but not really what I want since I'm blogging about SEO and Usability ...

Priority and change frequency doesn’t really play that much of a role with Sitemaps anymore.

Anyway, if there's interest in this, I can add support in News Manager for some gsconfig to set your custom priority for NM posts (default would still be 0.5, as in GS normal pages not in the menu)

You'd have to edit admin/inc/template_functions.php in GS, and plugins/news_manager/inc/functions.php (search for '0.5' in both). Of course you'll have to do this again when you upgrade GS or NM.
