Edit Components Crashed
#1
Just started on website #4 using GetSimple Smile

I installed 1 plugin - dynpages - and using holfored theme.

I was adding different components to use with the dynpages plugin - then all of the sudden - all the previously written components - vanished. Now I cant even save new written components.

Any ideas ?

Is it possible one of your components has javascript thats being executed on page ?
Turn debug on see if you get php errors.
Check browser JS console for js errors.

Do you even see the components titles or names on the right tags ?

I am including a screenshot of what I am speaking of.

None of the old components that I created are listed.

I cannot create any new components, they will not save.

None of the old components that I created contain any form of java script.

Ok so its probably failing to read your components xml file, nor save to it.
So see if you can maybe fix it manually to get back your code.

Health check should tell you this if its corrupted.
So will debug mode.

sorry must have missed it.
would you be wiling to pm me a link to the file i can look at ?
data/other/components.xml

Does everything else load fine and save ?
I wonder if its a permissions issue.

If you set 777 permission on components.xml will it work?

Here is the components.xml file.

I had to rename it to .txt format so it would upload.

Changing the file permission to 777 allows me to create new components - however - the new components are not listed in the area to the right - like they normally would be.

It looks normal to me? Try adding more so that the list is longer, usually then it might scroll down.

This did it ! I added 3 more items and I got the list on the right hand side again.

Thankkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Now then, my question is - what would make it crash like that ?

Haha no problem glad to help Smile Your host could have changed something possibly, I'm not sure what would cause the problem.

okay - the mystery thickens . . . . .

I have added several items in the components section.

They saved and displayed.

Now then - i went to add more content to one particular component - and when I do a save - every thing vanishes again. The only way of preventing all the items in the component section from dissapearing is to undo the save.

I have changed nothing internally within the get simple structure.

The content I added was straight html - no java scripting or php scripting.

Can you provide the xml file before and after this change.
Maybe we can figure out whats going on.

This is getting totally odd.

I logged out of getsimple to do the bug report here.

I logged back in to add the stuff and show the differences in the xml file.
Once i logged back in - it allows me to save the additional content i add and things wont vanish.
