Hi all,
today I updated my site to the 3.3.19 Community Edition and then looked for the installed plugins. I found the I18N plugin in version 3.3.2 ready to update, and followed the link.
Now I saw that I installed a 3.3.2 version from
http://get-simple.info/extend/plugin/i18n/69/ instead of the new CE compatible one from
https://github.com/GetSimpleCMS-CE-plugins/plugin-i18n/ - which is annoying and did not happen the first time.
My proposals:
- Tear down this old site. Nobody needs it anymore, since old PHP 7 webspace will not come back. And nobody seems to maintain it - these pages are still without SSL encryption.
- Let the plugins page of the 3.3.19 CE installation link to compatible plugins only for updating.
- Use the existing Github pages of CE edition for discussion of user threads.
- Let Wikipedia know where Getsimple is and which is the latest version. (Spoiler: it is not 3.3.16)
My prophecy is: the Creator will not come back.

The creator may not return, but with the CMS update old users may return and new ones may appear, and they need to look for information about plugins, which is abundant on this forum, and communicate about new plugins. Let this platform remain international.

I agree, the forum should suffice as an info for details. Get Simple CMS was never and will never be able to compete with the big glitzy CMS and the people using it are special, independent-minded and somewhat tech-savvy folks I'd assume. But then, why should that be bad? I love it the way it is!

Please, add SSL but allow *optional* connection through http. You can have both, it's no problem. There is no reason to enforce SSL other than to appease Big Tech. The Get Simple website isn't asking for your credit card details. Hiding information behind encryption makes no sense - let's keep the web open & accessible to everybody and use encryption where encryption is really needed!
Not everybody may be aware, but Get Simple CMS has made inroads with a bunch of vintage computing enthusiasts who use the CMS for their projects. That is thanks to the fact that it differs so nicely from modern hellish JavaScript overkill systems by offloading a lot of work onto the server-side (PHP) and allowing for simple interfaces. I'm among these people and I'd be very sorry to see Get Simple CMS losing it's strength by chasing a carrot it can never catch. It's flexibility to cater to many different makes GS CMS shine!
Your other suggestions are spot-on, I think!

Old Getsimple website is the center of get-simple.
Full of information and knowledge for a well thought out system.
It's easy: Do not only get ... get involved. If you can't get the solutions, get away.
At this moment I think, you're using the first get, nothing more. Others do the work and you get.
I can wipe my butt myself and don't call for mom when I'm done.
My proposal: Better you learn that !
I DO use get-simpe.info and I solve the problems by myself w/ help of multicolor, islander and others.
You @Hypertexter, better get involved like @multicolor and @islander at the moment, like others in the past.
These guys do not scream. These guys DO !
I interpret the links to the Extend Repository as a _sign of respect_ for the GS authors and plugin authors.
I interpret, @Hypertexter your shoot out as MISSING RESPECT of the work and knowledge from a "GETter"

Oleg 06 - translated CMS GetSimple to PHP 8, also started making templates for CMS on PHP 8 version.
His work can be found on the website

We will support everyone and provide assistance, answer questions.
Our last joint development with Oleg 06 is a 404 error plugin (PHP 8 support is available)
As for leaving the CMS on http, this is a utopian subchord, since many browsers no longer support the http protocol and give an error.
GetSimple for today is a good, simple and, most importantly, reliable system.
The latest plugins running under GetSimple are collected on the Oleg 06 website. And the templates are built on the Uikit3 framework
