I agree, that's a very interesting article.
Right-click copying can still be done easily, just be shutting off Javascript in your browser. That said, I do agree that a non-techie person would not be aware of that.
It is really tough to demo themes and not have them pilfered. I suppose one could try various methods of encryption and decryption, but at the risk of over-generalizing, I don't think your typical theme coder has those types of skills. I know I don't.
I'm thinking that one way of providing a value-added benefit of buying would be to provide the PSD's, additional CSS for color variations, modification tips, discount on their next purchase, membership in a support forum, tech support, you get the idea. Because so many things are copyable, not just themes, value-added stuff seems to be the modern way of still making sales these days.
