Removing Slider on certain pages

Hi, im new to GetSimple, and i have it installed with the GSBigBusiness Theme. I want to have the slider on the home page but not the subsequent pages. I have got a separate template file but when i remove the section referring to the slider code the page doesn't display correctly. Has anybody experienced this problem before? or can somebody with more experience help me? Thanks
