SMTP Authentication for passwd recovery

Hello,

I searched but could not find an answer to my problem.
The back-end has the "Forgot your password" feature.
My server does not allow unauthenticated email and I need to setup GS to use SMTP authentication somehow, in case a user forgets the password.

Any clue how can I accomplish this?
