Excellent. Thank you all.
I knew it wasn't a firewall problem as I am on a single subnet. It was a relative link problem because I could access the site but not the css etc.

Thank you all, your help was appreciated.
I'm no Einstein, nor do I profess to be. Just saying what I would try in the circumstances.
