Hi
I wondered if there is a guide on how to setup cron jobs?
The original setup guide on
http://get-simple.info/docs/cron-setup seems to have been removed...
Thank you very much.

Hi Connie
I would like to setup some kind of backup of my website, but besides that i'm no expert in cron jobs.
Is there any other way to do automatically generated backups - maybe via some plugin?
Thank you.

there is no need to run cronjobs, you can do any backup from the backend anytime
read the wiki:
backup pages:
http://get-simple.info/wiki/how_to:backup_pages
but most interesting here:
http://get-simple.info/wiki/how_to:backup_website
you can do a complete backup of your website with "one click"

I'm already using this "one click" method, but I was hoping there was a way to have it done automatically.
Anyways, thank you.

emenick,
to run a cron job depends on your hosting configuration, whether you can setup cron jobs or not
it depends which Operating System is active: is it LINUX, is it WIN?
so as these operations are not part of Getsimple, I suggest you contact your hoster's support
they should be able to point you how to setup such a job or maybe they set it up for you
you know which data is important to have it "backuped":
/data/
/plugins/
/theme/
plus the language file in admin/lang if you use a language file
infos on cron jobs:
http://www.cronjob.com/
I just found by google, that there are even free cronjob-services around, see here for example:
http://www.onlinecronjobs.com/

This used to be core functionality, but we removed it when we had security issues.
