I know it's not completed yet, and I will update it when I have the chance, but I have been developing and submitting code from there. Probably stupid since it's my production site, but I will get over it (just got my RAID server in the data center running again).

Love Get Simple, and love hacking the code!

Good work Chris!

Wow - I love the enthusiasm Derek. Thanks a million!

Once things get going, maybe we can talk about how to proceed together - Foxman already mentioned about needing an SVN setup to handle multiple committers.

I have been running it on lammp but I will get my personal page up over the weekend.

Great idea to run a site as a mini cms/blog/business card it would be good for my credentials and support the project. I have coded, consulted, managed and played in most areas of IT and I am happy to be invloved in whatever capacity the project demands.... I had my own web development business for a while but now I am a full time employee for a major australian financial inst......that does web development by night...... and I have some free time to get invloved in a project.

I have a cvsdude account that allows only a hand full of accounts and it is a bit of an investment. The alternative would be to setup up your own svn server....can get pretty nasty.... sourceforge might be the best bet....I have only ever use svn for a 2 man project and there was no need to run trunks etc....so we can all learn.

A great article on smashingmagazine that might point in the right direction

If you need help getting svn setup, I'd be more than willing to help get it going. I've been working for a company that uses svn as our main version control system for all three of our major projects. It's worked quite nicely and is easy to use. Again, you'd either need to setup your own svn server, or use an online system like http://www.unfuddle.com

Derek & Foxman - Thanks guys, I will repeat it again - i never imagined that people would want to get involved like this. It's awesome.

OK, so anyway, i was hoping either one of you had more experience in CVS than me, but i guess not. I guess we will all learn a new trick soon Smile

BTW: At lot of times I am only available nights and weekends - so don't think I am ignoring the community while I am at work during the day.

@ravistb09 - I think a hosted system is best b/c as of right now, I don't own my own server - I use shared hosting.

have you ever used unfuddle or a similar hosted SVN/CVS?

I use unfuddle for personal projects. Its good for their free version, but if you want more than one person to have access to it, then it gets kind of expensive for the monthly fees. But just now as I was looking online after making my post, I think a google project could work as well. I just setup a test project there, and it gives you the options to set people as project owners, project committers, and project contributors.

I can run an SVN server on our websites production boxes - i have a few running right now, not that hard to set up if we want. And the stuff wont get deleted since they are my companies, http://computerplugin.com/ - production server. And they are not shared, we own them. I can even install Trac which is actually really nice.

I think it actually might end up being done on google code project hosting. They have tracking on there for issues and also all the changesets

So does trac - I just like that better because ultimately we have control over everything. If you want I could get an SVN + Trac server up tonight Chris, just let me know if you do.
