Existing XML Schema - use GetSimple as a frontend?

This may sound absurd, but I'll just ask:

I have an existing xml dump, which I want to modify and extend with text and links to images. Later, when the new site is finished, I want to import it into that new CMS.
My idea was to import the XML into a simple cms/frontend and edit and extend it there.

Or do you know of any other solution out there for such a task?
