Mp3 Player Extended - Based on Mp3 Player 1.0 (Beta) by Michele
#1
Good day
-----------

Hi there I needed to extend the plugin that Michele de Angelis created first as in this post
http://get-simple.info/forum/viewtopic.php?id=874

Plugin works now with tags in page and does not replace all mp3 links. You can also configure the background color
of the player in the admin console.

To specify a file to play just add the following tag

(% mp3:Filename.mp3 %)

The idea is that if you have the file in your uploads folder it will detect the file if you just specify the name.

Basic and simple. hope it helps someone.

See what you mean , stays at buffering..

I will check and see if I can do the same on my system and then fix it up.
Thanks for testing

Added some help information under the Admin Plugin area where you configure the background color to explain how you
can add the file to your pages.

Just to be more user friendly

any help on how to fix this would be most appreciated! I've tried it on 2 different sites, and always get the buffering message, but no audio...

Hi there Marc
-=00-=-0=-0=

can you maybe send me a example site to look at or otherwise look at the source of the site and then in the object the path to the mp3 file will be there. can you see if the path is correct ? If you copy and paste the path into your url does it play the file via the browser ?

Hope this helps

Thanks

Hi Johannes- thanks so much for your response to my post!

It triggered a thought that maybe the fancy URLs were possibly the cause of the issue, and it turns out that this is correct; if i turn off the fancy URLs, the audio works;

Is there some file that i could modify to get the player to work with fancy URLs?

many thanks for your work on this plugin!

Hi there.. do you maybe have a example site for me to look at ?

I have tried via this testing site

http://www.dominion-it.co.za/kliente/ons/music

and it works there, plays the song everything. Maybe if I can see how the url is build up on your side I can get a idea of what is going wrong..

Thanks

Johannes;
Thanks for the work on this plug in.
I'm not able to get it to work at all.
I'm just getting a bar of the color that I selected in the admin tab.
No player controls.

When I input the path, I get...

"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /0GS-r183/data/upload/HollerPeopleYouGotStyle.mp3 on this server."

What permissions do I need to correct?

Thanks.

you have to look at your .htaccess file in that directory, You can maybe check onder the Support sections of Get Simple's admin area, that is a Health Check I think, there you can see if the .htaccesss file for that directory is correct,. sounds like just that..

otherwise, currently it just have the color as you can see, will see later what I can maybe add on if possible, hope it helps

johannes

PS : the .htacces file INSIDE the upload directory must have this in it

Code:
Options -Indexes
Allow from all

<Files *.xls>
ForceType applicaton/octet-stream
</Files>

<Files *.csv>
ForceType applicaton/octet-stream
</Files>

I just test all the plugins which I use in a fresh 3.0 installation just following the instructions of the plugins itself

and there I find, concerning your plugin:

1)
please tell explicitely where the file "player.swf" must be uploaded to, it does not work, when it is uploaded to the plugin folder, it must sit in the root of Getsimple

2)
there is no forum thread belonging to this plugin in the Extended Section, that's why I use that one here

3)
you name http://www.dominion-it.co.za/ as the author's website, but there the plugin is not to be found
in the footer of your site is a link to

development => MP3 Player Extended
with the link: http://www.dominion-it.co.za/development...tended.php

and that link bumps... as well as all other 3 links to the plugins which you introduce here

4)
in another posting here you link to the tutorial: http://www.dominion-it.co.za/tutorials/a...o_page.php

please extend that tutorial how to install and where to install, plus: add this link to the extend-page

these steps would help users to use this plugin a lot

cheers, Connie

Good day

the idea is that the plugin will copy the player self to the root folder if you look at the function called

install_player()

also the plugin is suppose to be like all other plugins where you just unzip it in the plugins folder ander start using.

I will look at updating the links when I have time, just overworked and behind schedule at moment.

hope it makes sense, please try with a clean install to just unzip in plugin dir and then run it, it will make itself workable with first use and the rest is configurable as per the tutorial page or the plugins page
