I have long page content which I want to break up into 3-4 sections. There will be the headings and short excerpts of the text visible with a "Read more..." button below each of those excerpts. Clicking on the button will expand the text making it visible.
"Page excerpts" plugin won't do the trick as all this text has to be on one page only.
"Spoiler" plugin doesn't work well if the text contains many paragraphs between the [spoiler]text[/spoiler] tags. It's working with <br /> tags though.
This text will also be containing ordered/unordered lists, so I'm looking for a proper tool instead of the Spoiler plugin. How can I achieve this?

the simplest is a javascript based pagination.
Look for "jquery pagination" (for example jpaginate) and if you're fine with jscript method, it should fulfill basic needs.
But if you want to serve large amount of data, then it's not a good choice.
