Slider on Frontpage

Hello again,

I just got my menu working thanks to yojoe and mvlcek.

Now what remains is that I would like a slider to work on the frontpage (instead of the image), all I need is something that lets my customer upload the image and set a link to an existing / external page. No buttons are necessary, just an automatic slider will do good!

Can anyone help me out? I've tried to insert the I18N Gallery plugin in the image by using

Code:

(% gallery name=Slider %)

in the placeholder of

Code:

<div id="showcase"></div>

but it seems to only output the text (% gallery name=Slider %). I added content to the "page" in the GetSimple Admin and it shows up. But I can't get it to work from the template-code view..

Anyone know what might work here?

You have to include the (% gallery ... %) tag in the page content for it to work. Why do you want it in the template?

Well they only need it on the front page, so I don't really know how to get both the "content" in the image box (where the slider shall reside) and the rest of the elements to show as normal.

Do you have any suggestions for me?

you could use one template for the frontpage and one for the rest of the pages, why not?

That's what I was thinking, but how do I make a new template and then display the front page in the similar fashion but with the slider as well? :-) Thanks!

take the template.php of the actual theme
copy it as "frontpage.php" for example
edit it and add the slider code there before the content-tag
upload it to your server

open the frontpage in the pages list
go to page options
choose "frontpage.php" as template for that page

Unfortunately it's what I already tried out.

But the GST SuperSlider plugin worked the way I wanted it to (by getting a <?php gst_superslideshow('forside'); ?> that I could embed).
