PROBLEM mp3 files in GetSimple
#1
Hi folks,

I am a new user of GetSimple and am managing part of a choir website.

I have already placed links to other sites with music files available on a page, but I would also like to make available samples of the choir singing as well as our own rehearsal files for each voice.

Can anyone tell me, in as non-tech a way as possible, how to place the required mp3 files on a page, suitable for both playing and downloading?

I have already uploaded some mp3 files to the Files area in a separate directory ready for accessing.

Regards,

Roy

Let me give you the simple and smart non-tech approach first.

Upload your mp3 files to soundcloud.com and use their embed code. Paste the code into your page in 'source' mode and the job is done. You could do the same with youtube but the video would be a still image unles you got creative.

Otherwise you put links to the files in your html. html5 supports audio so you just need to do it right:
http://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_audio.asp
The standard editor in GetSimple will not help you at all here so you will have to write the html out. I don't know if you will need to disable the editor - someties it tries to correct what it doesn't understand. I don't know if the upgraded editor handles mp3s, maybe. Maybe someone else will know.

let us know how you get on.

Ha! an antique plugin! and in case you missed it here is a demo page:

Let us know please Roy if the plugin is still okay.

Just tested, it actually works. It does use flash.

For downloads you can use the download manager:
http://get-simple.info/extend/plugin/dow...fynet/891/

or:
http://get-simple.info/extend/plugin/client-files/66/

(not tested, but they should work)

and maybe this one as well:
